Scope: Total interior renovation. 3000 sq feet


This home was extensively renovated and remodeled with one thing in mind – the owners’ art collection. Wall colors, lighting placement, and use of natural light were all planned in order to best showcase an eclectic mix of modern paintings, sculpture, and fine etchings.

An antique chest of drawers was altered to accommodate a sink and faucet in the powder room.

The existing parquet floor in the front foyer, here with a dramatic art presentation, was refinished by hand and stained to match the new prefinished hardwood plank floors.

Doorways throughout the home were raised in order to accommodate new eight-foot paneled doors, including a double-door entrance into the master bedroom.

The addition of floor-to-ceiling bookcases turns the central bedroom into an office from which the owners manage their business as art dealers.

Traditional-styled custom kitchen cabinetry with crown mouldings was painted in a soft neutral; new state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances complete the kitchen.

A long gallery hall, with its new high ceiling, was fitted with picture rail for a changing display of hanging artwork.

The new prefinished hardwood floor stained in a dark walnut color saved time in the completion schedule when compared with a traditional site-finished installation.

A specialist created a comprehensive lighting plan to ensure proper illumination of the owners’ art.

Custom panels in the style of European paneled rooms were created for the specialty doorway between the living room and den.

The inspiration for the custom marble fireplace surround was a photograph the owner had seen. Working from this photo, plans were drawn, measurements calculated, a template was built, and ultimately the final product was fabricated and installed.
